News: signing of the Renewable Energy
Partnerships in Bonn

Report of this special event, on Monday July 23, 2001
During the Climate Conference in Bonn, which saw a positive
breakthrough in the political arena of the COP 6 negotiations
during the same day, the partners of the Soltherm Europe
Initiative had organised a signing session to underline
their commitment to the Renewable Energy objectives of
the European Commission.
The more than hoped for attendants were warmheartedly
welcomed by Mr. Paul Met, deputy director of the
European Business Council for a Sustainable Energy Future
who had observed the long COP-6 negotiations during two
consecutive days. He introduced three introductory presentations
on the Soltherm Europe Initiative.
The first was held by Mr. Kees van der Leun, managing
director of Dutch Soltherm partner Ecofys.
Mr. Gerhard Stryi-Hipp, manager of DFS, explained how
the Solar-na-klar campaign grew on its successes.
Mr Bart van der Ree gave some insights on the 'Space for Solar' project which is currently conducted in the Netherlands.
The special event was concluded by a signing session were it became clear that most of the Soltherm partners already signed the Renewable Energy Partnerships with the European Commission and other were in the process of doing so. The following organisations already had signed the RE partnerships with the EC:
-Danish SolEnergiCentret -ADEME -Ambiente Italia -AEE -Trama Tecnoambiental -ASTIG -Ecofys
Representatives of the latter two organisations, Mr. Werner
Koldehoff for ASTIG and Mr. Kees van der Leun for Ecofys,
received the official confirmation of their Partnerships
from the representative of the European Commission, Mrs.
Mariàngels Perez LaTorre. She said that also the Partnerships
of Trama Tecnoambiental and AEE were already approved
by the Commission.
The following Soltherm partners signed their RE Partnership with the EC, in Bonn:
-DFS by Mr. Gerhard Stryi-Hipp -3E by Mr. Luc de Gheselle -Climate Alliance by Mrs. Gotelind Alber -Berliner Energieagentur GmbH by Mr. Michael Geissler
The following partners could not be present but indicated to be in the process of signing their RE Partnerships with the EC:
-British Research Establishment -O.Oe. Energiesparverband
It is expected that also the remaining other Soltherm partners (NOVEM, RhoneAlpesEnergie, CRES, Institut Catala d'Energia) are to sign the RE partnership soon with the EC.
