With more than twenty-five years of experience in Spain,
at the moment, low temperature solar thermal energy has reached
its technological and commercial maturity, but the market
is still weak.
Global solar radiation on horizontal surface in Spain oscillates
between 3,2 KWh/m2/day in the northern zone and 5,3 KWh/m2/day
in Canary Islands. So, Spain is particularly privileged in
comparison to the other countries in Europe. However, only
few regions have a strong market on solar thermal systems,
the other still have a long way to reach them.
The most generalised solar thermal systems application is
the domestic hot water production (DHW) in unifamiliar housing,
hotels, hospitals, camping, sports pavilions, etc... Specific
installations to heat swimming pools are still not very spreaded
out despite its high potential.
